"What keeps me coming back for more day after day? The challenge to be a healthier person, the competition I feel within myself, the relationships you build with people who are struggling with you. The unspoken competition I have with that little unassuming clock in the corner that continually mocks my efforts. I would swear that thing slows down while I am working and speeds up when I am resting. The whole experience sets you up to never be satisfied, to always strive to take your abilities to the next level. Addictive? In the best way possible!"Dax D.
"Jen, Thank you is not enough to express my excitement and gratitude for the Shipyard community. Before meeting you I was overweight, and unhealthy. Professionally as a health care provider I have always been one to take care of others but do little for myself. In 2013 my wife and I were expecting our first child and I made the active decision to start taking care of myself. Over the past 10 months I have gained strength, power and endurance, but most importantly I have become a better husband and father for my family. Every day I walk into the shipyard I am inspired by all the athletes and the work that is done in this community... Thank you for inspiring me to become a better person, and to be a part of The Shipyard."
"When I moved into town, I was struggling to make time and find the energy to workout. I had that gym membership that got used maybe once a month. After packing on a few too many pounds, I decided it was time to make a life change and I needed that extra kick in the shorts to get me going. So I decided to join the Shipyard, now after 8 months I have dropped 60+lbs. Not only the weight loss, I have also had so many gains in mobility, strength, coordination, and endurance. The members here are just amazing! They cheer and push you to go faster, or lift heavy, or just to give you that support to get through whatever the workout is for that day. And the coaches, I just can’t say enough good things about the coaches!. They have an eye for detail when you start to lose your form during heavy lifts or long endurance workouts. Joining the shipyard is the best thing I could have done for myself, and I am so happy that I did! THANK YOU Jen for all that you have created here!"
"I can't say enough about The Shipyard. Jen and her staff of caring and knowledgeable coaches have me doing things I never thought I'd be able to do. I just turned 50 and I feel better than I have in years, actually decades. And that's not even the best part. The best part is the community of friendly and supportive folks that are there with you, encouraging you every step, and every burpee of the way. Don't sign up if you want your life to stay the same. Only sign up if you want to make changes that will put you on a new trajectory towards doing things you never thought possible. Signing up for The Shipyard is the best investment I've ever made."Jeff
"The Shipyard is a welcoming atmosphere full of supportive people and the best most challenging workouts I've ever done. It's more than just a gym; it's a community!" Sarah K.
"A gym like The Shipyard doesn't happen by accident. It is built with intention from the inside out. The people within, the coaches, put their hearts into their roles; they truly desire to better the athletes. They know each athletes abilities and limitations and share their expertise to customize a workout that fits the individual's goals. The athletes at The Shipyard know that when they cross the threshold that they are in a space where nothing but their best will do. Our family moved to Coos Bay without any friends nor family in the area, but with a hope of finding acceptance within this community and to make it home. Upon entering The Shipyard, I knew that I would find acceptance and the familiarity of dark mornings coupled with a white board made a new city feel just a bit more like home."Sara E.
"I was hesitant to try it out due to being 44 years old with multiple back and knee surgeries and had been stagnant for 10 years. Fast forward 9 months and I have lost 37 pounds, I'm stronger than I have ever been, the numbers on my blood work have been significantly reduced, and I feel great! From day one, I felt like I had a personal trainer that stressed proper technique and workload to reduce the chance of an injury occurring. I have played many sports in my life and have never been around a better coaching staff. Not only are they knowledgeable but they bring the best out of the me through motivation, cheer leading, and seeing in me what I sometimes can?t see in myself, helping me to push past my mental and physical limits. I have never been around a more solid, like-minded group of people that come in on a daily basis and work. No matter what your fitness level is, they are there to cheer and support you in your journey and celebrate with you every step of the way."
"After a year of watching my little sister thrive at the
Shipyard and being bored with the same old routines at the gym, I decided to
give it a try too. Being 50 years old at the time, I was hesitant to risk being
injured and miss work and life responsibilities. Having the professional
coaching and attention to detail we receive here, as far as stretching and
mobility, has me feeling like a 25 year old again! Even better is the great
group of people we are surrounded by here to motivate each other. Shipyard has
definitely been one of my better life decisions!"
"Like most things that are hard, the Shipyard delivers a lot of rewards. Strength of body and community is what gets built at our gym. I feel privileged to be a part of it. Thank you Jen and the coaching staff for pushing us to be better!"Nate C.
"I just want you to know how very very grateful I am for you guys. I feel better than I ever have physically and mentally. Its just amazing. This week I've kicked ass and the scale has dropped every day! You are wonderful coaches and just a joy to be around. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you've taught me and pushing me to grow. You fuckin rock!!!"
